London plumber, wherefore art thou…

Finding a decent London plumber shouldn’t be like a quest for true love but there are some things you need to do to make sure you find a reliable and cost efficient plumber in London, without too much effort.

When you have a sudden leak or break down it pays to have a well-known plumber on speed dial, or a friend who can recommend a tried and tested expert. Sadly this is not possible for many people who require an immediate solution and who blindly pick the first contact from an online directory.

But follow some simple tips and a reliable London plumber should be easy to spot online.

Our London Plumber search tips

Check credentials

Making sure your plumbing firm employs qualified and experienced plumbers is a must. Look for City and Guilds qualified and gas safe registered plumbers.

Read contracts

Checking guarantees, insurances and references are equally as important when finding a London plumber online. If you have found the firms website, head for their FAQ page, google reviews or gallery of finished work to make sure you know exactly what you are getting.

Hidden fees

Make sure you know if they have any call out fees, if they charge by the hour or have any hidden extras before you book the job. If you phone, ask as many questions as possible about the job, and how long it should take before you commit and have the guy dragging their feet to increase the hourly rate. Reputable firms will be able to give you an estimated time once the job has been fully diagnosed.

Shop around

As long as water is not pouring from the ceiling you will have time to shop around and check the prices offered are reasonable. Don’t accept the first price. A further handy tip is knowing where to turn off the water should you really have water running from the ceiling!

I had a good experience with this service. Terry who came out to see my issue was very good and professional.

Homecure attended my boiler very promptly diagnosed the fault and were proactive in sourcing the relevant part and getting it going again straightaway

Really good service, completed in a professional manner and to an excellent standard.
I would highly recommend and use again.

Had some parts changed which didn’t need changing from a second visit from another plumber. Also they charge hourly labour per part fitted even if they don’t spend that long fitting - complete scam

I have been using Homecure for years now, they are always professional and helpful. They were quick to respond to an emergency with some plumbing issues when I moved into my new house and I always use them for my boiler services and maintenance. I highly recommend this company.

Really, really poor - plumber turned up over 4 hours late and shut down the boiler due to some irregular readings… 5 days later we were still without hot water and absolutely no sign of this issue being solved. I rang 7 times for an update and every single time I was given a lame excuse blaming the supplier or that the issue is somebody else’s responsibility and that i will get a call back that evening (7 times I’ve been told they’ll call me back - I have not been called back once!…)
FYI - I called another plumber this afternoon and he was round and fixed the problem within 2 hours…

Hugely unprofessional and horrendous customer service from start to finish
